When the company was first formed, it was called “Board Games Express” and it started in the basement of Erik Szabo in Quakertown, PA.  He loved games and had played thousands of them, so back in 1999 he decided to start a little website that sold 30 to 40 unique, fun games. 

The company slowly grew from a small home-based business that was selling a game every few days to one of the largest online retailers of games in the world!  The company now stocks over 1000 different titles, and is one of the leading providers of games to giant school districts, cruise ships, correctional facilities, child care facilities, military bases, and before and after school programs, children’s hospitals, as well as individuals.

In 2008, the company changed its name to The Game Shop, and continues to grow.
